Soft Pretzels

INGREDIENTS

- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, yeast, and kosher salt. Add the vegetable oil and warm water, and mix until combined. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes, until it is smooth and elastic.
- Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and roll each piece into a long rope. Shape each rope into a pretzel shape and place on a greased baking sheet.
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add the baking soda. Boil the pretzels for about 30 seconds, then remove with a slotted spoon and return to the baking sheet.
- Brush the pretzels with melted butter and sprinkle with coarse sea salt. Bake at 425 degrees F for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
