Cinnamon Rolls

- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Add the butter, milk, and egg and stir until a shaggy dough forms. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- In a medium bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
- Roll the dough out into a 16x12-inch rectangle. Spread the softened butter over the dough and sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Roll the dough up tightly, starting from one of the long sides. Cut the roll into 12 equal pieces and place in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Cover and let rise until doubled in size, about 45 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before frosting.
- In a medium bowl, beat together the cream cheese, confectioners' sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Spread over the warm cinnamon rolls.
